Elon University is a selective private university renowned as a national model for engaged learning, along with excellence in the liberal arts and sciences and professional programs. Elon's 5,800 students put knowledge into practice, fulfilling their roles as global citizens and informed leaders motivated by concern for the common good. The 360 full-time faculty members teach in more than 50 undergraduate majors. Elon University includes Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences;
along with schools of business, communications, education, law and health sciences. Master's programs are offered in business administration, education and interactive media, and doctoral programs include physical therapy, law and physician assistant studies.
Carol Grotnes Belk Library opened in January 2000, but the library at Elon has been in existence since 1889 collecting documents and items relating to the institution. Belk Library is a 75,000 square foot facility with over 300,000 volumes.
The University Archives and Special Collections houses a variety of materials in multiple formats that document the history of the institution. The department has over 2,500 linear feet of processed and unprocessed collections, including university publications, photographic materials, manuscripts, campus departmental files, and memorabilia. Some of our university publications are available through the Internet Archive while other digital collections are accessible through the archives and special collections website.
